Pizza Franchisee to Open Fitness Center in Boiling Springs

The owner of 17 Upstate Little Caesars Pizza franchises is planning to open a Workout Anytime fitness center in Boiling Springs.

Franchise veteran Aaron Davis, 35, of Greenville, said after having turned several pizza franchises into profitable businesses, he was looking to branch out into something different.

Being a fitness fan, he looked at several franchises and found that Workout Anytime had one available for the Boiling Springs area.

“They were interested in the Spartanburg market and had half a dozen locations,” Davis said of the Workout Anytime owners. “We were looking for a sweet spot. Boiling Springs was hands-down the best location — the demographics and visibility.

“Having selected sites for Little Caesars, accessibility is everything. If customers can’t see you, they’re not going to come to you.”

Employees have been busy renovating a former Dollar General store in the Bi-Lo Shopping Center at 1915 Old Furnace Road. The fitness center will feature 8,000 square feet of space with the latest high-end equipment, he said.

A January opening is planned. The date will be announced soon, he said.

He said a basic $15 membership includes 24-hours-a-day access to the center and more than 100 clubs around the country. A premium membership includes hydro-massage and unlimited tanning, he said. Fees are month-to-month, and no long-term contracts are required, he said.

“I looked at a handful of franchises,” he said. “I wanted to stay with something I’m familiar with. Don’t get me wrong, I love pizza, but when you can offer a top-tier product at a great price and great relationships that helps change people’s lives, it was a no-brainer.”

Married with two children, Davis was born and raised in Greenville, majored in advertising at the University of Tennessee, then came back to join his in-laws in business.

“Overall, fitness I’ve been passionate about since I was a teenager,” he said. “It’s nice to be able to do something that you like with a franchise background.”

Atlanta-based Workout Anytime is a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week fitness concept with 100 locations across the U.S.
